Books, Books, Books!

With the present technology and fast paced flow of life, magicians nowadays especially the younger ones (new sprouts) are inclining very much on magic DVD’s and other multimedia resources. What most youngsters in magic mostly those who don’t have any mentor to begin with, ignore the importance of reading magic books and magazines. They want the visual stuff where they don’t need to imagine what the book is telling them.

If they would rely much on these videos, then they are missing some of the good stuff. Since as what I observed there are a lot of great feats that you get from reading the books some of them are sleights that you can’t even see in Magic DVD’s. I started off with magic by learning through books, manuscripts, magazines rather than the videos and because of that I can manage to fool other magicians who are much into DVD’s.

If you want to perform in front of other magicians, go find a good book as a resource for your magic.

Some good Books Are:

Royal Road to Card Magic by Jean Hugard (considered as a Bible by cardicians out there)

Expert at the Card Table by S.W. Erdnase

Modern Coin Magic by J.B. Bobo (considered as a prime resource by coin magicians)

13 Steps to Mentalism by Corrinda (considered as a Bible by Mentalists)
