Growing in Magic

5 10 2009

It’s been a while since I blogged again. I’ve been busy these past few days practicing our stage manipulation act. It’s totally different from my usual stage magic act which is more of comedy magic and a lot of audience participation. This time it is music based and a bit of theatrical performance on my part. There are no comic remarks, and we have to perform as soon as the music starts beating. Stage manipulation is harder than I thought. When people invite me to perform on stage, I was only limited to mentalism feats back then. To my readers who are non magician, manipulation is another field of magic where there is a huge dexterity of the hands and showmanship involved. Such effect in manipulation include, producing a Read the rest of this entry »

Mentalist vs Medium, the Duel

13 04 2009

Donna StewartOn Edinburgh Festival, a face off will occur as a renowned mentalist, Peter Campbell-Wells who has an indept skill in the art of mentalism and magic goes head to head against Donna Stewart who is a natural medium with an unassuming style that has gained her a reputation for delivering highly accurate and detailed messages from the spirit world .

The clairvoyant medium will be performing authenticity of her gift, against the mind-reading magician, showing that mediumship is nothing more than a well intentioned “magic”.

Peter also had many years of experience in the mentalism genre of magic where he depicts his capabilities in reading your mind! Even without prior knowledge of a person, a practiced mentalist can still quickly obtain a great deal of information about the subject by carefully analyzing the person’s body language, clothing, hairstyle etc.

This is a duel that is much awaited since the time of Houdini.

Book tests, cards, almost all sorts of stuff from dice, billets, poker chips, paper clippings and more. I keep on updating my routines for mentalism these days as to create a layered performance.

Since I wasn’t able to find an ESP deck here in Gensan and in Davao which my fellow magician Dave looked into, I have to create my own ESP deck by using Read the rest of this entry »

The theme for MBS was “Mindanawon, Paminawon Intawon: Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness” It was a part of Gensan’s e-business week wherein bloggers got to chance to share their ideas and views on blogging about Mindanao.

Kudos to all organizers of the event, Mindanao Bloggers will trully treasure what transpired here in Gensan.
