Video of the Week – Kenton Knepper’s Time Machine

Never thought I’d see this on a video clip. I read about this feat when I was starting at mentalism. Certainly one of Kenton’s classics. I love the presentation of the feat and somehow I found myself almost drowning in Kenton’s worlds as I imagined I was flowing back in time. The time when I first knew about this wonderful piece of effect. LOL

Books, Books, Books!

With the present technology and fast paced flow of life, magicians nowadays especially the younger ones (new sprouts) are inclining very much on magic DVD’s and other multimedia resources. What most youngsters in magic mostly those who don’t have any mentor to begin with, ignore the importance of reading magic books and magazines. They want the visual stuff where they don’t need to imagine what the book is telling them.

DVD Review: Jay Sankey’s Boris Pocus Extremely Mental

Extremely Mental is one of the most unique mental magic video I’ve ever watch. Boris really made learning magic a bit more fun with his comical persona. When I first saw the cover of this DVD on Penguin Magic I didn’t recognize that it was Jay Sankey. This is worth to watch and learn from. The feats taught on this video are easy to learn and requires minimal sleight of hand. One of my favorites on this DVD is Mona Lisa where Boris presents a feat concerning the mystery of coincidence and how things came to be even if they appear to be ramdom.

The opening credits of this DVD is a killer, learning with Jay Sankey was never boring especially with his comical character. I give this DVD a rating of 8 stars out of 10. If you are into mental magic and wants to have quick and strong effects you got to definitely buy this one.

Inviting Bloggers!

Since a blog is an online journal or a diary, I have invented a new effect in Mentalism that will soon join my repertoire of mentalism feats. It is called “The Diary of Catherine Frank”.

Preparing for a Mentalism performance…

Gaah… Its been a while since I last prepared for a purely mentalism performance. So here are my so called “weapons” in mentalism. Control your Dreams!

Is Dream Control Possible?

Can we decide what dream to have during sleep?

Can we be aware that we are just having a dream?

YES!

For the past few months I’ve been practicing the art of N.L.P. and has done myriad of experimentation on it like making a person color blind, apathetic, drunk and forgetful. The idea never came to me until the same feeling happened again. This feeling is when while I was sleeping I was able to picture in my mind what was happening in the news on T.V. It felt like I was in the scene when I woke up I was surprised that the person who was in my dream was talking on T.V.

I related it to my N.L.P. and I could well say that it has a big possibility. When we are asleep or perhaps half asleep our subconscious mind is very open and our conscious mind is temporarily shut down. With regards to N.L.P. and conversational hypnotism it requires the subconscious mind to be open for the effect to work. Thinking about it…. Hmm… Yeah, we could really tell our mind what to dream!

How to handle HOSTILE audience…

Last night, I was able to watch street magicians do crash performances in the a local pub in davao. I even became one of their “victims” wherein one of them did the 2 card monte on me. Though I know how to do the trick I didn’t reveal myself as a street magician too. It was later that night, that a probably 20 year old street magician got caught up in a fight with a bystander there. I really dont know exactly what caused the fight, all i know is the bystander got pissed off. So I thought of posting this bit of wisdom

Mentalidad III Cancelled.

Due to unfortunate events that happened, I have to cancel Mentalidad III early this September.  It was about to be ready when I have to fix certain problems that requires a lot of my time and effort. Sorry to cancel my invitations to my show. Though it will be rescheduled in the near future.

TIPS FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING

The Beauty of N.L.P.

Everytime I do psychological illusions and the sorts, I always tell people that what I’m feeding them is not true especially on my vodoo doll routine. It just seemed true because I applied N.L.P. on them.

Marketing Mentalism in Gensan

Unlike Davao City, marketing the art of mentalism in Gensan is particularly hard. Considering the fact that General Santos City is a small city and people are shall I say “not aware” about the art of mentalism, introducing it is like having a lecture. People I look up to

As a magician and mentalist, there are persons that I look up to and gain motivation from. Being what I am now is basically a dream come true. A dream that I had way back when I was a boy.
